A Certified Financial Consultant, John is nationally recognized as an expert in operations improvement and financial turnarounds. His strengths include strategic thinking, client interface and a consultative approach. Author of 58 papers, legislation and one book, "Protecting Your Life Savings From Medicaid". He has also earned faculty appointments at two universities and one college.

Advanced studies and post-graduate work were completed at Johns Hopkins and Wharton. In August 2001, he was accepted into The First Broker Network, an international alliance of financing brokers and lenders, as a Certified Associate Partner. In 1997 he was named as a USA Today Small Business Advisor/Panelist and was also named as a charter board member of the St. Louis chapter of Turnaround Management Association. In 2001, he became the Financing Associate for Health Club Experts. In 2003, he received a mayoral appointment to his community’s Industrial Development Authority board and Tax Increment Financing Commission. He serves on a variety of corporate boards. In 2006 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate.

Also in early 2003, he was invited to join the International Society of Financiers and is now one of only 250 members in the worldwide organization who has earned the right to the designation of Certified International Financier. The Society has a credential verification requirement for its members, does not allow them to promote “iffy” financing programs or schemes and strongly discourages the practice of charging upfront fees. It has an attractive track record of helping authorities weed out some of the bad guys in the financing industry.

A variety of engagements and assignments has been successfully conducted in 38 states and 7 foreign countries.

Some larger works have included creating the economic development plan for the State of West Virginia as well as that State's airport development plan. He also conducted the initial feasibility and front-end development work that lead to the creation of two ski resorts: Snow Mountain and Silver Creek.

He performed all feasibility work including site selection and administered all funding pass-throughs for Operation Breakthrough – one of the largest housing projects ever - in Indiana.

He authored Indiana’s economic development plan and then directed the establishment of a state-wide planning program. He also coordinated the inclusion of the State's interests when Indianapolis and Marion County merged.

Other significant clients have included Indiana University, United Way, Centerre Bank and the State of Kansas.

He has also helped start-ups and early stage companies such as Campbell Facilities Group, All Source Energy and Matt Johnson Enterprises.

Feasibility studies, business acquisition and expansion analyses, proformas and specialized financing engagements are other examples of his experience and areas of expertise. He created an expanded, more comprehensive Due Diligence service for businesses engaged in lending, borrowing, construction, mergers and/or acquisitions.

He has served as Manager-In-Charge for the consulting divisions of two Big-8 firms, -  Deloitte, Haskins + Sells and Coopers & Lybrand (each later became clients) and was Director of Planning for HBE. In each of those posts, he created new engagement “products” and approaches…all of which are still being used by the firms.

His "Conduct of Business Rules" include:

·         Putting client needs and interests first

·         Adhering to the highest standards of truthfulness and integrity

·         Providing only those services for which he is competent and that deliver full value to you, the client

·         Keeping up-to-date on trends, sources and developments affecting business

·         Only submitting funding requests to sources looking for deals like yours

·         Advising and informing you of possible funding and/or deal structure alternatives
