A Certified Financial Consultant, John is
nationally recognized as an expert in operations improvement and financial
turnarounds. His strengths include strategic thinking, client interface and a consultative
approach. Author of 58 papers, legislation and one book, "Protecting
Your Life Savings From Medicaid". He has also earned faculty appointments at two universities and
one college.
Advanced studies and post-graduate work were
completed at Johns Hopkins and Wharton. In August 2001, he was accepted into
The First Broker Network, an international alliance of financing brokers and
lenders, as a Certified Associate Partner. In 1997 he was named as a USA Today
Small Business Advisor/Panelist and was also named as a charter board member of

Also in early 2003, he was invited to join the
International Society of Financiers and is now one of only 250 members in the
worldwide organization who has earned the right to the designation of Certified
International Financier. The Society has a credential verification requirement
for its members, does not allow them to promote “iffy” financing programs or
schemes and strongly discourages the practice of charging upfront fees. It has
an attractive track record of helping authorities weed out some of the bad guys
in the financing industry.
A variety of engagements and assignments has
been successfully conducted in 38 states and 7 foreign countries.
Some larger works have included creating the
economic development plan for the State of West Virginia as well as that
State's airport development plan. He also conducted the initial feasibility and
front-end development work that lead to the creation of two ski resorts: Snow
Mountain and Silver Creek.
He performed all feasibility work including
site selection and administered all funding pass-throughs for Operation
Breakthrough – one of the largest housing projects ever - in Indiana.
He authored Indiana’s economic development
plan and then directed the establishment of a state-wide planning program. He
also coordinated the inclusion of the State's interests when Indianapolis and
Marion County merged.
Other significant clients have included
Indiana University, United Way, Centerre Bank and the State of Kansas.
He has also helped start-ups and early stage
companies such as Campbell Facilities Group, All Source Energy and Matt Johnson
Enterprises.
Feasibility studies, business acquisition and
expansion analyses, proformas and specialized financing engagements are other
examples of his experience and areas of expertise. He created an expanded, more
comprehensive Due Diligence service for businesses engaged in lending,
borrowing, construction, mergers and/or acquisitions.
He has served as Manager-In-Charge for the
consulting divisions of two Big-8 firms, -
Deloitte, Haskins + Sells and Coopers & Lybrand (each later became
clients) and was Director of Planning for HBE. In each of those posts, he
created new engagement “products” and approaches…all of which are still being
used by the firms.

John was involved in performance boating for a
number of years, having been a test driver for Formula/Thunderbird, earning a
Master's level Captain's license, teaching both basic and high performance boat
handling and driving an offshore race boat for 10 years. His contest record was
41 wins and 3 losses when he retired from the sport in 1998.
He is now a certified, full-fledged HOG (Harley
Owners Group) with a 2005 Road King Custom. He rides whenever possible.
